Date of Origin: 16th Century
Characteristics: Miniature fine-bone, head thinning to a pointed muzzle. The neck is long and thin. Tail is straight ending in a slight curve. Short, sleek coat in solid gray. Playful and intelligent dog. This is a pet for a quiet household where there are no lively children. Small Greyhound was found in an ancient lava flow in Pompeii.
Height & Weight: This dog's height is 12-15 inches and it weighs 6-10 pounds.
Function: During the sixteenth century this dog became popular the European nobility. The Italian Greyhound original function was used for hunting. Today it is use for apartment life and sensitive to the cold.
