D.A.R.E.
by Aaron
I feel that D.A.R.E is a good program because it teaches you about drugs and what they do to you. I learned not to take drugs and what happens when you do. I also learned 8 ways to say no and what to do when a person you know or just a person asks you if you want to try them. To avoid drugs and violence you should not hang out with people who do them. To avoid violence don't use or carry weapons around with you. I think its important to stay drug free and avoid violence because you would not get a good job, you waste your money on it, and you would be killing yourself very slowly taking drugs. you would get addicted to them and could not stop thinking about them. To avoid violence is important because you could get arrested, hurt very badly, or even get yourself killed. It is also good to stay drug free so you don't get an overdose and die. In the D.A.R.E program you do fun things and get to hold Darin the D.A.R.E mascot who reminds us of good things that happened. If you don't take drugs you are probably going to live a good, happy life.

I feel the D.A.R.E. program is a good program for kids or any other people that dont know how to handle drugs, or alcohol. We have learned to say no to drugs or any other things that could get you into trouble not only with your parents or principal but with the police too. Some examples of things that could hurt you or get you into trouble are guns, knives or any other weapons or drugs such as tobacco, which can make you have tongue surgery pot or Marijuana or crack which can make you have all kinds of cancer and the most important lung cancer or alcohol or medicine pills or needles which can make you crazy or maybe even make you commit suicide. I think its important to stay drug free so you can stay healthy and stay alive or not get into trouble. Also because if youre not, your friends wont like you.
DARE
by Elena
Some people think that DARE just stands for drugs but it really has a lot more to it. It tells children to stay away from gangs and not to get into fights. DARE tells you to make the right decisions by not using drugs. I really enjoyed this program. It was fun because we got to act out the different ways to say no. Our officer Mr. Greenberg was a lot of fun to be with. He taught us that people who take drugs think its cool because everyone else does it but in real life its not.
I had a lot of fun during this program and I hope in the next couple of years when you do DARE you will have as much fun as I did. Remember make the right decisions and dont do drugs!

Some people think that D.A.R.E. is only about drugs, but they are wrong. D.A.R.E. is about making the right decisions. It teaches you the right and wrong choices you lead a good life. Mr. Greenburg, our D.A.R.E. officer, is very kind and teaches us, plus he brings D.A.R.E. things for us when we do a good job. Darin, our D.A.R.E. mascot, is to remind us of the good times in our lives.
D.A.R.E. teaches us not to do violence and not to do drugs. It also teaches you to stand up for your rights. So always remember D.A.R.E. is about making the right choices and one of those choices is living a drug-free life.

Most people think that D.A.R.E is just about drugs, but it isnt. We learn to have a right attitude and how to say no to say to drugs. D.A.R.E. helps us distinguish between right and wrong. Darin, our D.A.R.E. mascot helps us think only of the positive things that happen to us. Mr. Greenburg, our D.A.R.E. officer helps us make wise choices and not to take drugs or be involved in violence. We do fun activities and skits to show that we care. Dont do drugs because it wont get you anywhere. WE are glad to graduate but not glad to not to have D.A.R.E. anymore. There is no chance for me to take drugs or do violence. I really learned a lot from D.A.R.E.

DARE is not just about drugs. It is also about doing the right things. Darin our mascot reminds us of good and positive things too. DARE also tells us that violence can hurt you and other people around you. If you smoke, it makes your breath smell, your teeth get yellow, and your hair and clothes smell too. Most of all it makes it harder to breathe and it makes your lungs turn black. When I hear the word DARE, I think of positive things. I think DARE teaches an important lesson about life. It tells you that there are challenges in life and it also tells you to feel good about yourself. So say no to drugs and violence. They wont get you anywhere!

What do you think of D.A.R.E.? Some people think of D.A.R.E as drugs, smoking, and youth gangs. Well its not in D.A.R.E we talk about drug and smoking why we should not do them. We also do activities. We learned that if your not in activities you might have low self-esteem and if you have low self-esteem means you might want to take drugs. D.A.R.E is a lot of fun with Mr.Greenberg as the teacher. You not only get cool thing. You also get loved for not what you are but for who you are. You respect your friend and family. I have good memories of D.A.R.E. We did do work and played a lot of education games. D.A.R.E stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. If some thing is on your mind you can write a letter and he will help you. Our Mascot Darien reminds as of good thanks. D.A.R.E is not about fighting or youth gangs. D.A.R.E is about making good decision.

D.A.R.E. means a lot to me and can also mean a lot to other people. D.A.R.E. is a program for people to learn not to do whats wrong. There are 8 ways to say no and they are, "No Thanks," "Walk away," "Changing the Subject," "Strength in Numbers" and more. But the 8 ways to say no are important for people for everyone to know too. Parents who smoke shouldnt smoke in front of their children especially while theyre having a baby. People shouldnt smoke because it is bad for their health. It can cause a lot of damage to your brain and nerves system. It is good to stay as healthy as when you were born. When people sometimes join gangs they start to use drugs and they shouldnt. Ive learned a lot from the the D.A.R.E. program, mostly from Mr.Greenburg. Mr. Greenburg has taught me a lot about drugs, people, joining gangs, not to smoke and lots of other things. Mr. Greenberg is a good guy and a great cop too. Once more I love D.A.R.E.

D.A.R.E. has many meanings to me. Over the several weeks with Mr. Greenburg I have learned how to avoid drugs, and to never take drugs. He has showed me 8 ways to say no to drugs. Mr. Greenburg has taught me why D.A.R.E is important. D.A.R.E is important to me because it has taught me everything I need to know about drugs. D.A.R.E is special to me especially Darin because he has made me remember all the special memories that we spent with Mr. Greenburg and my classmates. D.A.R.E was fun, we did plays and we learned a lot which was the most fun we did in class. Everything that I have learned I will show the smaller kids why not to take drugs. One day if I have children I will be their example forever. I have learned that if I want a good career dont take drugs. I f you choose the wrong way you wont be able to turn back. Thank You Mr.Greenburg.
DARE

I think DARE is very important because it teaches people to stay drug-free. I also think DARE is a special program that is very, very important to kids everywhere. It might teach some adults also to quit using drugs or smoking. Mr. Greenburg, our DARE officer, is very nice to us. Everyone probably agrees with me that Darin is a good mascot. Darin makes us think of all the good things that have happened. Some people think DARE is only about gangs, drugs, and smoking, but making the right choices are just as important. DARE also includes the eight ways to say no to. These ways are very important. We had fun learning about everything in DARE. We put on skits to show how to say no to drugs and to learn the different types of pressure. Everyone liked the role models from the high schools. DARE is the best part of fifth grade. I think it should be more than seventeen lessons. Everyone enjoys DARE very much.

The program D.A.R.E. is a new experience for me and maybe for other people. I learned so much in D.A.R.E. I learned 8 ways to say no, the difference between low self esteem and high self esteem and other thing we do.
Mr. Greenberg lets volunteers do drama with him to give examples of what to do and when to do it when it really happens. The thing I like most was Mr. Greenbergs mascot Darin. Darin represents positive things and good memories. If you have hopes in dreams dont use drugs and avoid violence and do the right thing and also stay on the right path.

In this 17 week program there was a lot of fun things that went on. I learned lots of interesting things like 8 ways to say no to drugs and why it is bad to take them. Some people think D.A.R.E. is only about drugs but it is not it is about reaching goals and living a successful life. Whenever you would like to ask Mr.Greenburg a question you would write it on a piece of paper and slip it into the D.A.R.E. box. the best thing about D.A.R.E. is Darin are Mascot he makes think about positive things that happen or happened in your life. Mr.Greenburg never forced you to do anything. The second best thing about D.A.R.E. was acting out what might happen to you when your older. The other good thing about D.A.R.E. is the role models. We asked them questions on how they live a happy healthy life to there age and why it is very important to stay drug-free. I know my classmates and I are very happy because we are going to stay drug-free. I really dont believe that the 17 weeks went by so quick. We even watched a movie about drugs. Even though D.A.R.E. is over Mr.Greenburg promised to visit. I am very sad to graduate from D.A.R.E. I wish D.A.R.E. was longer then 17 weeks. Although I know I am a drug-free kid now because if it wasnt for Mr.Greenburg I would probably not realize it. Now I have high self-esteem. People who smoke or take cocaine dont live a happy life. They dont live as happy as me and they dont graduate as happy as me. When ever we are good we get cool D.A.R.E. stuff. I know I am going to live a successful life. Well no that D.A.R.E. is over I will always think about Mr.Greenburg. I thank all the people who set D.A.R.E. up for us. Mr. Greenburg was a great teacher so I thank him for being our teacher. I help the forth graders look forward to D.A.R.E. to. There is one more thing I made up about D.A.R.E. D.A.R.E stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education my way is Drug Awareness Really Educated me. There is one more important thing that fits into that word Drugs Are Really Expensive. I thank Mr.Greenburg for being a great teacher.

D.A.R.E is a great program that makes you think about drugs and what it does to your body. Drugs will make it hard for you to keep up in school or sports. Dont take any kind of drug it will damage your brain and a whole lot more. Chewing tobacco could get your tongue cut off and alcohol could make you dizzy or makes you throw a fit. Cigarettes can give you lung cancer. Some drugs will make you see things that arent even there. Drugs will kill you D.A.R.E. makes you realize that.

I think D.A.R.E. is a program to help and care about children future. Also about getting into the real world.
The first time Mr. Greenberg told us about D.A.R.E. a lot of us didnt know what to think of it. He asked us to tell him all the good or positive things that are happening to us, after that he picked a person to hold Daren. Then we got on the subject, he told us about drugs. Then week we learn more and more, Peer Pressure, Stress, and Stressors, and I could go on and on.
Mr. Greenberg really helped us see, never to do drugs or some other things that can hurt or even kill you.
DARE
by Sarah
Ever since I heard we were going to do DARE in fifth grade, Ive been excited. Ive always wanted to know what drugs would do to you and finally I do know. Having the DARE program is a great idea, especially for kids who have parents who do drugs because it is a big influence on the child that drugs are right to do. But in the DARE program you learn that drugs can be so harmful that they can even kill you.
From the first word I put on my word list to writing this very essay, Ive been learning things like how you get high on something, what assertiveness means, and eight ways to say no. Even though copying all those words and definitions can get boring after awhile, I actually learned something from them.
I think that when it comes to being violence and drug free Id just like to say thank you Mr. Greenberg for all you taught me.
DARE
by Laura
Dare the first time I heard that we were going to take Dare I was not sure what it was going to be like. Now I know. DARE is about not only how to help your self, but how to help others. If I had not taken DARE than I would not know the 8 ways to say no to drugs, and violence, or how to keep your self-esteem high. Without Dare I would not even know that stressors are any situation or event that causes stress.
I would like to thank Mr. Greenburg for being such a good, no let me say great, DARE officer, and for me, and my fellow classmates how important it is to stay drug, and violence free.
Over a period of a few sessions I have learned enough to protect, and guide me through various situations that I will encounter throughout my entire life. I feel that Dare is a great program, and I am very pleased that next years 5th graders will get to experience it too. Thank you dare for helping me stay drug and violence free.

Drugs it can affect the way your mind and body works. Now I know that drugs are very dangerous. They can ruin your whole life and not get you anywhere. D.A.R.E. has taught me eight ways to say "no" when your in trouble. Also that anything you dont feel comfortable with you dont have to do. You should take good consequences not the bad. I know that if you take good consequences they get you to higher goals.
I think being drug free is important especially for me. I want to have a good life. If you take drugs you have a life at all. Avoiding violence is a good idea. When you have low self-esteem most people take their madness out in violence like hitting someone or getting an attitude. D.A.R.E. has taught me to be calm and talk to someone you feel comfortable with.
I like D.A.R.E. and I am very happy I was in the program. Having the role models coming to speak about drug problems and peer pressure, that they experienced. It helped us make good decisions in life. Mr. Greenburg made learning fun. Our mascot Daren reminds us of positive things. I really enjoyed D.A.R.E.!

Hello my name is Chris Gazzetta and I am going to tell you some things about D.A.R.E. I think D.A.R.E. is fun and educational. The main thing youll learn about D.A.R.E. is how to resist drugs and violence.
Mr. Greenberg has taught us tips on how to say no when people offer us drugs, and lots of bad things not to do and good things that we could do. We had roll models tell us that people youll face when you get to high school wont keep asking us to take drugs just say no and walk away.
I think if you take drugs it can do all sorts of bad things to your body. So why take drugs and alcohol and put them into your body when you can only do bad things to your body. D.A.R.E. is not only to resist drugs and violence but also to learn all sorts of other things. Youll find that out when you take D.A.R.E. I hope the forth graders have Mr. Greenberg.
D.A.R.E. for Me
by Jeremy
Every year kids fall victim to drugs and give into violence. Sooner or later they will all strongly regret their actions. That is what D.A.R.E is all about. Aside from being a good friend Officer Greenberg is a good teacher and he taught me many things. I learned how to get out of and avoid situations I dont feel comfortable with.
Taking drugs and being violent could and most likely will ruin a persons life. If you ever think drugs and violence are cool and people will like you they wont. If you are ever tried to be convinced than just trust your judgment. If you want to be a athlete, taking drugs will lower your grades so you wont be able to play in the first place and even if you could you woudnt be as good.
D.A.R.E. taught me how to deal with things like drugs and alcohol. I also learned how to tell someone we know how to stop smoking or drinking without being to direct. Someone I know used to smoke till his son who has D.A.R.E. got him to quit for good.
D.A.R.E. wasnt a work, work, work class. I had a good time in D.A.R.E. All the people who will have D.A.R.E. next year should look forward to D.A.R.E. I think you will really enjoy it.

D.A.R.E is a good program for kids that teach them about drugs and violence. D.A.R.E is good because it teaches kids that when they get older people are going to take drugs and use violence.
We learned what drugs are and what they could do to you. We also learned about peer pressure, gangs, and certain risks. D.A.R.E helps you deal with stress levels.
It's very important to drug free because; you will live a healthy and good life. This kind of education will help you forever.
I hope Mr. Greenburg will teach D.A.R.E next year because, he is funny and nice.
Drug Abuse Resistance Education
by Neil
Over the past 17 classes I learned a lot such as the 8 ways to say no, why not to take drugs like marijuana, tobacco products and alcohol. Also in D.A.R.E.we learned about your rights and self- esteem.
I feel this program is good because its fun and your learning at the same time. Being in D.A.R.E. means you have a commitment to stay drug free. Some side affects of drugs and alcohol products are drunkenness, loss of coordination, increase of violence and dizziness.
Being drug free means you can grow up to be healthy and nicer around people. Next year the D.A.R.E. students will hopefully have a D.A.R.E. officer as nice or Mr. Greenberg as there D.A.R.E. officer.
What Dare Means To Me
by Christina
Dare, what Dare means to me. To me Dare is not just a special that gets you out of a subject it is a class that helps you feel good about yourself. It helps you set goals and achieve them. Dare is almost like saying to yourself I am special, I feel good about myself, and I want to do everything I can to protect my body. I think that if everyone in the whole world had Dare it would be a much better place. Dare helped raise my self-esteem and if it could do that for me it could help anyone. Dare makes me think about how lucky I am. Dare may not be gym or even recess, but it is a great thing to have. I did the report as well as I could so I could show Mr. Greenburg I learned a lot and to thank him for teaching me.
I have learned if I stay away from drugs and violence I will achieve all of the goals I set for myself. Dare has taught me that one little word can bring someone's self-esteem level down so much. I also learned that if you know something is wrong that your friend is doing you don't have to follow their actions.
I think it is important to be drug and violence free because it is how you get what you want in life. So, keep this in mind, Drugs and Violence are not worth it.
Be Drug Free Just Like Me
by Summer
I really enjoyed being in the D.A.R.E. program. We had a great teacher that not only taught us important facts about life but he had fun with us and brought us really cool gifts.
The most important facts that Mr. Greenberg told us was to never take drugs and always try to make good decisions. If you do decide to take drugs, its not only going to hurt your body but its going to hurt all the people who care about you. Youll never get a good job and if you have a problem and you take drugs because you think your problems will go away, well, youre wrong; you just have another problem.
So please dont take drugs and I promise you life will be way better.
Drug Free is the Way to Be
by Samantha
D.A.R.E. has helped me live a very good life. I feel that this program should be every where, not only in a few schools. If I were taking drugs and was in a youth gang after a few weeks of D.A.R.E. I think I would be able to change my life around. Fortunately I am not taking drugs and D.A.R.E. helped me stay away from drugs. D.A.R.E. taught me about self esteem, and if you have a high self esteem you will feel great about your self and you will be what you want to be when you grow up.
I have learned 8 ways to say no. High schoolers came to our class and explained what life might be like in high school and what to expect. We have shared stories and learned to feel for others. We have learned that skipping school and doing the wrong things is not cool. We have learned about pressure in general, and if you have confidence in your self you will be able to declare your own rights and nobody will force you to do something you dont want to do.
I think it is important to be drug and violence free because drugs can mess up your mind. Drugs can persuade you to think you are doing the right thing but you arent. Life is something to cherish dont throw it away with drugs.

I think all kids should get this program. Its fun, cool and a way for you to learn how to stay away from drugs and violence. So when you fourth graders get here, get ready for a great time.
In DARE you learn how to say no, your rights and what drugs can do to you and how they do it. You also learn the meanings of of fifteen words.
I think all kids should stay away from drugs and violence because theyre not good, you could get seriously injured or become a bad person. You could also get a bad personality.
Thanks Officer Greenberg, I had a great year.

I think it is important not to do drugs because they mess up your mind, how you act in school, at home, and how you play sports. I dont want to go to jail, I want to go to college.
