1975 is a year full of new events that would contribute to America’s new growth and change. Gerald Ford takes over as President of the US when President Nixon is impeached and later resigns from office. Pet rocks are a fad of this time as are mood rings. Mood rings could also tell how you were feeling due to your body temperature. Pelé comes to the U.S. and the Red Sox lose another chance at breaking the curse. There are also many other interesting events that happen during this year. So welcome to 1975!
Saigon falls, Vietnamese forces capture Saigon from U.S. Forces. President Thieu resigned April 21 and flees the country.
Jack Nicklaus of the United States wins the Masters golf tournament for a record fifth time.
July 5, Arthur Ashe of the United States becomes the first black American men's singles champion at the Wimbledon tennis championships, London, England.
9.2 million tennis rackets are sold in the U.S. an all time high.
September 30, U.S. boxer Muhammad Ali beats Joe Frazier of the United States on points in Manila, "The thrilla in Manilla" the Philippines, to retain the world heavyweight boxing title.

The Jamaican pop group Bob Marley and the Wailers releases “No Woman No Cry”. Also the album Natty Dread, one of the classics of reggae.
The British pop star Elton John releases the albums Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy and Rock of the Westies.
The U.S. pop singer Bruce Springsteen releases “Born to Run” and an album of the same name.
Atari and Tele-Games release the first official home version of Pong through Sears department stores.
