February 9, killing 51 and injuring 880.
- On February 28, the
Weather
Underground bomb the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. in March, causing
$300,000 worth of damage.
- On April 20 the Supreme
Court said it's okay
to bus schoolchildren to other schools in order to integrate schools
in Charlotte-Mechlenburg
Board of Education v. Swann.
- On June 13 the New York
Times publishes a
series
of articles based on a Pentagon study.
The
Pentagon Papers give details of the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War.

Governor
Nelson Rockefeller orders the State
Police and National Guard to retake control of the prison. 43 are killed
including 11 hostages. Most are killed by police.
