- The Neutrality
Act of 1936 is passed on February 29.
- The Triborough
Bridge in New York bridge opens July 11 to link Manhattan, Queens and
the Bronx
- At the age of 22, Jesse
Owens, wins four gold medals at the Summer
Olympics in Berlin. He set new Olympic and World Records. Embarrassed at
the defeat of Germany’s "master race," Chancellor Hitler leaves
the stadium.
- The
New York Yankees win the World
Series by defeating the New York Giants 4 games to 2.
- On October 25, Italy's
Benito Mussolini made an alliance with Germany's Adolph Hitler. It is called
the Rome-Berlin
Axis.
- Construction of Hoover
Dam's first generator goes into full operation on October 26. Located on
the Colorado River, it creates a lake 115 miles long and water irrigated for
250,000 acres.
- In November President
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was reelection for his second term with 61% of
the popular vote.
- New York’s Henry
Hudson Bridge opens December 12 to link Manhattan’s Upper West Side
with the Riverdale section of the Bronx and the Westchester parkways beyond.

- Joe
