The New York Yankees win the World Series against the Chicago Cubs, in a four game sweep. One of baseball's most famous moments happened in game three. The score was 4 to 4, with two strikes against him, Babe Ruth points to the flagpole at the right of the scoreboard in center field, letting everyone know he was going to hit the ball there. On the next pitch he put it out of Wrigley Field.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt is elected president on November 8 with more than 15 million Americans out of work. He was chosen as Time Magazine's Man of the Year

New York’s Radio City Music Hall opens on December 27 in Rockefeller Center.
