1926 was an exciting year. It carried the flappers, and brought on famous Marilyn Monroe. We also lost many people. Monet, Mary Cassat, and Rudolph Valentino all died in this year. New foods were invented, like Milk Duds, and new movies were popping up everywhere. In science we also made many advances. The speed of light was found, and the first liquid fueled rocket was launched. 1926 is a year in history that will not be forgotten.

• March 16- R.H. Goddard launches the first liquid fueled rocket.
• April- Martha Graham opens her first Dance studio in New York
• May- The US sends troops to Nicaragua to preserve order
• June 1- Marilyn Monroe was born on June first 1926 in L.A California.
• June 14- Mary Cassatt dies.
• August 23- Rudolph Valentino dies on August 23.
• September 5 - Ford Motor Company introduces a 8- hour day and a 5- day week.
• October- Cardinals beat Yankees in the World Series of 1926.
• October 31- Houdini dies of appendicitis.
• December 5- Monet dies on December 5^th
• Throughout the year- Many great films were made in 1926, including "Metropolis" and "A Tale of Christ".
• The Mercedes SS-Sports car was invented.
• The Chrysler Imperial Luxury was made.
• El Du Pont invented waterproof cellophane in 1926.
• National Broadcasting Company was founded.
• Belle Barta wrote the opera,  "The Miraculous Mandarin"
• AA Milne wrote the original Winne-the-Pooh.
• Mini golf was invented.
• Leon Foucault measured the speed of light.
• Vitamin B was discovered in rice bran.
• The gene theory was made.
• Bobby Jones became the first player to get a "double", or win two Major golf tournaments.
• Cork centered baseballs were invented, modernizing the sport of baseball.
• The Semi-Automatic Rifle was invented, to later be used in the Army.
• Antonio Buzzacchino invented permanent hair wave.
• Birdseye opened his first seafood freezing plant.
• Hormel developed canned ham.
• A list of foods invented in the twenties, including Milk Duds, Cobb Salad and Hormel Canned Ham.
• Josephine Baker opens her first Paris nightclub called La Revue Negre.
• Charlie Chaplin stars in The Gold Rush.
• Gertrude Ederle beat the men's record for swimming the English Channel by two hours.
• Gene Tunney won the Heavyweight boxing champion title
