In 1911 the U.S. population increases to 94 million higher than Japan, Italy, France, Ireland, and England. This number is not as high as Russia, India and China. It was during this year that a horrific fire swept through the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York and Ernest Rutherford invented the nuclear model of the atom. 1911 was a year of firsts. It was in 1911 that the first person went to the South Pole and the first Indianapolis 500 motor car race was held. 1911, was an exciting year full of very amazing events.
