Prince Edward Island
By Carolyn, Jose and Victoria

We had a wonderful visit to Nova Scotia. It was so much fun that we thought we would visit Prince Edward Island. We hopped on a tour bus that took us across the Confederation Bridge where a big sign said, Welcome to Prince Edward Island (PEI). We first stopped at Victoria Provincial Park and had lunch in the picnic area. From there, we drove to the Victoria Seaport Lighthouse Museum, the lighthouse is really big and we climbed all the way up to the top and saw far across Prince Edward Island. It was fantastic!

We then took a boat from Victoria Harbor into Charlottetown Harbor where we boarded a tour bus to the University of PEI. It is a really beautiful campus minutes away from the beach. We all are going to come back and see it when we're ready for college! Then the tour bus drove to the Regimental Museum. As we where going there we saw all the beautiful scenery but the soil was a little red we did not know why; the ground was also bumpy and there were a lot of rocks. When we got to the museum we saw Canadian & Prince Edward Island military artifacts. The uniforms and medals were really interesting!

After the museum we drove on over to the Provincial House of Historical Sights. We saw a monument to Jacques Cartier who discovered Prince Edward Island. We learned that PEI was named after Queen Victoria's father, Prince Edward in 1799.

We learned so much from the tour bus driver; he told us that Prince Edward Island was the seventh province to become part of the Canadian Union and the smallest province. The bus driver told us to look out for the provincial symbols too, the province bird is a Blue Jay, the tree is a Red Oak, and the flower is called a Lady's Slipper.

After Charlottetown we took a train to Cavendish where we went to the Royal Atlantic Wax Museum, there were all sorts of statues and they were made from wax! It was cool; they had a wax statue of Elvis! Then we went to PEI National Park, we learned it was made to protect and conserve the beaches and animals that lived among them, some of which are endangered. We loved it! Then we left and went to have a little fun at Rainbow Valley Family Fun Park. We got soaked on the water rides. Before we left we saw Anne of Green Gable's house, it was fantastic, none of us had read the book but now we can't wait. We had a blast in PEI and decided that we had seen the best of it so the next morning we decided to drive on over to New Brunswick, see you there on our next adventure!
