British Columbia
by Anthony G. & Danny

One day we were driving and we had a flat tire. We looked around and we saw a tour bus at the corner of the road. We decided to hop on the tour bus and get a ride. In the middle of the ride we figured out that we were headed to the Canadian province of British Columbia! Our trip started in Vancouver. While we were in Vancouver we watched a basketball game. It was the Vancouver Grizzly Bears vs. the New York Knicks. The Knicks won 87 to 76. Then we ate dinner at The Look Out. The food was good and the views were fantastic! The restaurant kept turning so we got to see the entire city. That night we slept in the Fairmont Hotel, a well-known landmark in Vancouver, then got an early start the next day.

After that we drove south to Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. We saw some totem poles in the parks, double-decker busses, and quite a few castles. It was very interesting. We hopped on the world's longest paved highway. It stretches from Victoria, British Columbia to St. John's, Newfoundland. We road until we saw a sign that said Pulp and Paper Mill ahead. We decided to visit it. It was really cool. There were huge rolls of papers being manufactured. By the time we were out of the mill it was already 5:00. We decided to take a hike through the woods. We stayed close together because when it started to get dark it was pretty scary! Then all of a sudden a creature jumped out in front of us! However, it was only a squirrel that made us jump like that.

The next day we took a long drive up north to see British Columbia's wildlife. Before we went to see the beautiful landscape we decided to go skiing. We entered a ski race called The Tenth Annual Whistler Cup for Juveniles (that's kids like us.) It was Danny's birthday and that brought us great luck and we won! We definitely did not think we would win. There were people from all over. After that we celebrated with a great meal at the Old Spaghetti Factory! The next day we decided to go look at the beautiful landscape and rivers! British Columbia is known as Canada's "playground." When we got there I thought we were in heaven. It was so beautiful! The trees glittered in the sunlight, the little stream was flowing beautifully, and you could see tons of wild animals in the distant land! However the sad part was the rest of the province north was wildlife, so we couldn't go sightseeing anymore. So the next day we woke up early and headed south for the United States of America where we really live. British Columbia was a really beautiful place to visit, but it's time for us to go home!
