Harriet Tubman was born in about 1820 in Bucktown, Maryland. She got hit by an iron weight when she was only 13 years old. Harriet married John Tubman in 1844. In 1849 Harriet ran away from her master's plantation. She then led over 300 other slaves to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Harriet Tubman died in Auburn New York of pneumonia.
