The Union Pacific Railroad was started in 1865. It was made so that Northerners and
Southerners would have a transportation and shipping route. In my opinion, the
Union Pacific Railroad took a lot of time and effort to finish.
The workers on the Union Pacific Railroad were very hard working.
There were over thirty thousand workers on the Union Pacific which is twice
as many as who worked on the Central Pacific. This amazing railroad took six
years to finish. The Transcontinental Railroad took 35 years to finish
because the Central Pacific only had 15,000 men so this took up three
quarters of the time. The bodies of workers were all immigrants. Nine out of
ten workers were Asian. The whole railroad was built by hand and it is still
running today. The Union Pacific was very convenient. This
locomotive made it so that mail and travel would be much easier than it used
to be. The Railroad tracks would not freeze during the winter. It is also
better than waterways or canals because it is much faster. The Union Pacific
was the first railroad to go coast to coast from sea to shining sea. The
Transcontinental Railroad started at the Mississippi River and ends in The Union Pacific Railroad was extremely
dangerous. This giant Railroad had a 150 foot high and 650 feet long bridge.
This bridge swayed back and forth in the wind making the train able to fall
of the track and explode. The whole Transcontinental Railroad is hand made so
it is not very stable. There were no tools back then so when the wind came
and made it sway back and forth it could have fell. Today this bridge is
still running but it obviously has some improvements. In conclusion this proves that the Union Pacific Railroad took a lot of time and effort. The Union Pacific and the Central Pacific were very hard to build because it was extremely long and there was no machinery. It was very dangerous because the bridge that they were building was really high and they did not have much support. For more information:
