Dear Mom and Dad,

soccer2.gif (1772 bytes) I'm sure you will love Brazil! I'm having so much fun here, it is a fabulous country. It has exotic food like pig ear and tongue. I know that sounds gross but it tastes just like chicken. I think Nicholas will like that. People here also drink coffee and eat rice, beans, fruit, bread and potatoes.

Some places you should think about moving are Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, or São Paulo. I like São Paulo the best because it looks like New York City. Rio de Janeiro is famous for its food. Brizilia is the capital of Brazil.

Brazil is very big, it is 328,668 sq. miles. That's almost the size of the US! Brazil holds Latin America's largest rain forest, the Amazon Basin. You'll want to bring your shorts and T-shirts, it is extremely hot in the rain forest. Brazil has 26 fabulous states. They got independence in 1822 from Portugal. That’s not so long ago! Brazils natural resources are gold, iron, hydroelectricity, and timber.

Brazil has many rivers and forests. One is the Amazon River. The Amazon is the biggest river in Latin America. The Rio de Plata system is also a part of Brazil.

Brazils main religion is Roman Catholic. I'm having some trouble because they speak Portuguese as the national language here. I'm sure I'll learn it in no time because it's kind of like Spanish. Once I get the hang of it I'll teach it to you.

Most people here are nice. When they are happy they talk like they are mad. If you give someone the American OK symbol where the thumb and index finger meet, it is considered offensive. They feel the same way about toothpicks. I think you will love it in Brazil. It is a great country.

Sincerely,
Jackson
