Dear Mom and Dad,
I'm so glad that I was the one to check out Venezuela. There are so many things here to see and do, it's wonderful! There are a few changes in Venezuela. One main change is the language. All I say is you better start taking lessons for Spanish because that's their main language. Italian and Portuguese are also spoken there!
Yum yum! Their food tastes delicious. I found some really good restaurants that are really cheap! Food that they eat here is something like what we eat in New York. Pork, beef, and fish are main meals. There is this really good cake called arepa.
School I would say here is a lot better than any school. You get in free for 10 years (5-15). Isn't that great? One less thing to pay for! Their first school called Central University of Venezuela started in 1721!
Money here is very confusing. Before I start explaining, Bolivar is what they call money. So 468 bolivars is one dollar to us. Now I know that this sounds like a lot of money to collect but it really is only collecting pennies in New York.
Mom I know that you are going to be very mad about this but you are going to have to do this everytime we go to restaurants. As usual you have to give a tip and pay the bill but here you have to do the same thing with one extra step. You have to pay for how good the service was!
Get your dancing shoes packed because there is a lot of dancing here! You can dance to songs like the salsa and meringue. Dad don't worry there is sports here too! Bullfighting, Baseball, and soccer are their main sports. You can also hunt and fishing.
The climate I would say is sometimes sunny and hot or let me say mild. But the months May through November is what they call the rainy season. Mom I know that doesn't thrill you! The temperature here is in the 70's and high 80's. To dress necessary I will give you a list. In the summer I suggest that you bring cotton clothing. Mostly shirts and short sleeves. In the spring bring pants, long sleeves, and short sleeves.
Now you know some brief things about Venezuela. There are a few changes that take time to get used to. Other wise your pretty much set to come down here. Bye for now!
Your Daughter,
Dana
