Dear Mom and Dad,
I have done my research on El Salvador and I think that I have enough information to tell you what it would be like living here.
The language is Spanish. You will have to take lessons but I can fluently speak Spanish so I can help you. Only 55%-63% can read. Spanish comes from the language Latin.
The clothing is basically shorts and a T-shirt. For business you need a suit. Also you just need to bring a light jacket for the winter.
Some health problems are bad water, there are not many doctors, and they have the measles there. So get the shot!!!
The jobs here are what we have at home. Dad can still work as a teacher. He could also be a waiter or doctor.
The money translation is very cheap. One peso is equal to 11 cents.
There are first hand schools and secondary schools. John and I would go to the first hand school and then if we are smart enough to the second hand school.
The custom is like here in the United States. When you see someone you slightly nod your head, the main meal is at lunchtime, and if you are a guest you are to be polite! The only thing that is different is that they believe in witch doctors.
The transportation is buses, cars, boats, and your own two feet. You can also buy bicycles there.
The land is mostly made up of volcanoes, good soil, plateaus, river valleys, and two volcanic mountain ranges. Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are common.
The temperature and climate is basically tropic. The average temperature all year is 75
° F. The rainy season is May through October. If you don't want to be that hot you can live on the plateau where the average temperature is about 70° F all year round. The food is not very different. It is mostly corn, beans, squash, bread, and rice. There are also dairy products, meat, fruit and coffee.
The recreational things are soccer and basketball. They are both very popular. El Salvador is the sports capital of Central America!
Some places you can go to are the Mayan Ruins, the Santa Ana Volcano helicopter ride, and Plaza Libertad, San Salvador. I like the ruins the most.
Some of the cities you can live in are Santa Ana and San Salvador. Some buildings in them are schools and hotels.
The last thing I will tell you is that the population is 5,768,000 people.
Now it is up to you, but I dont recommend living here because of all the health problems!
Love Your Daughter,
Christina
