Dear Mom and Dad,
At Cuba, the language is Spanish and hard to understand for all of us. They use pesos for money and they are worth less than our money. The capitol is Havana and its the largest city in the Caribbean.
Insects are very hazardous to your health in Cuba. They give you Malaria, Yellow Fever and Dengue Fever. All of those have symptoms and you should get shots for them. You also could get travelers diarrhea.
They eat a variety of foods. Fruit, rice and potatoes are only a few of the things they eat. They also have sweets.
Casual clothing is in style there. Your clothes should be clean to match the other people. Women wear slacks, jeans, short skirts, blouses, canvas shoes and or sandals.
Men wear long pants, jeans, shirts, t shirts and tank tops. All students wear uniforms.
When youre greeted, men handshake and women give a little kiss on the cheek.
You might want to see El Capitolio National and translated it would be "The National Capitol" building in Havana. There are also tobacco fields and handicraft markets like we had this year at school.
In Havana there are cinemas, historic theaters and many other things that show and teach you about the city and the island. Theres only one slight problem about night in Havana. There are late night parties and Cabarets.
If you want to come please write back.
From your island scout,
James
