Diana, The Baby Vicuna
By Shalexis

One gloomy night, when the sky was filled with stars, a mother vicuna was having a baby. The mother had her baby vicuna deep in the woods, so that no one could take her away. When the baby was finally born, the mother got so excited. "It’s a girl!'' father shouted.

"She has beautiful, white wool,'' mother said. The parents named her Diana. After half an hour she already started walking. She went to her mother for some milk. After a month, the baby vicuna stopped drinking her mother’s milk and began to drink water. The next day her mother heard a loud sound coming from deep inside the woods. The sound was from hunters coming to kill the vicuna’s for their wool.

Diana’s mother told her to run as fast as she could because the hunters were coming to kill them for their wool. Into the woods, Diana ran as fast as she could. She went deep into the woods so the hunters would not find her. Diana got sadder and sadder, and she got weaker and weaker.

A week later she went back to where she used to live. She went to look for her parents, but all she found were her parent’s bones lying on the ground. Diana cried and cried until she could not cry anymore. The next day she heard that the hunters were coming back again for more wool. So she went to all of her friends’ houses, and told them what happened and think of away to protect themselves. They found a way. When the hunters finally came back, all of Diana’s friends and their parents attacked. The hunters ran off and never returned, and the vicunas were safe forever from the hunters.
