Dear Mom and Dad,

Uruguay is the best! There is so many things to learn about and do down here in this beautiful climate. Uruguay is different from home but I like it a lot. Right now I am in Montevideo, Uruguay's capital. You should consider moving here. It's great! I like the food and customs a lot. Tonight I am going to a festival with a lot of dancing and delicious foods. I hear there's a very nice beach in Montevideo that I'm dying to go to. There's so many things to do we will have something to do every day.

Uruguay's climate is the best because it's always warm. In the summer, the temperatures are around the 70s & 80s and in the winter it's in the 40s-60s. Anna, it's perfect weather for swimming in the summer. You should bring T-shirts, shorts, long pants, long sleeved shirts, turtlenecks and hats. Oh wait, don't forget to bring bathing suits. Hey dad! The weather is perfect for playing sports and exercising, now we can work on my fast ball. Well, you guys better start packing. It's going to be a very enjoyable climate!

In Uruguay, they don't speak English so I better tell you what language they speak. Dad & Mom you have it easy! Uruguay's main language is Spanish and you both know Spanish. Uruguayans also speak a little Brazilian. Well, Anna and Matt you better get started learning Spanish.

Dad, if you're wondering how to commute to work every day you're lucky. Uruguay has tons of transportation! In Uruguay there's many railroads that make commuting easy. PLUNA, the national airline, will make it easy to take a vacation out of the country. There are also automobiles for road transportation. There's even river transportation! Well, Dad, it looks like you will have no trouble commuting to work in Uruguay.

I almost forgot the most important thing, where Uruguay is located. The location of Uruguay is in southern South America, on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Its border countries are Brazil and Argentina.

Mom, I don't think your going to like when Uruguayans have their three meals every day. For breakfast the people usually eat late in the morning with coffee and bread. Lunch, which is the main meal of the day, is when workers usually come home to eat. At night they eat dinner at 9:00 to 10:00. I bet Anna is going to be happy when she finds out dinner is at 9:00 at night, she likes staying up late.

Mom, don't worry about Anna, Matt, and I not getting a very good education, Uruguay is a very educated country with a lot of education systems. Did you know that Uruguay and Argentina are the highest educated countries in South America? There are free schools from kindergarten to college. There are also many education programs? I'm looking to be an architect. If you're wondering the top education system, it is the University Of Republic. So mom, as you can see you don't have to worry about your children not getting a good education.

Anna, I know you like history, so you're in luck Uruguay has tons of history that I think you will enjoy. Anna did you know that Uruguay was once home to many native Americans until 1516 when the Europeans came to South America and changed their lives forever. Brazil owned Uruguay until 1811 when Jose Gervasia Artigas started an independence fight and claimed Uruguay free in 1825. That’s all the history I've learned so far and I'm hoping to learn more.

Matt coming here is sure going to be a treat for you because Matt I know you like animals and Uruguay is full of animals. Matt, there are some very vicious meat eaters such as the wild cats. I wouldn't like to get to close to them. There are also some beautiful birds like swans and white heron ducks, but I think the birds you will be most interested in are the vultures and owls. That’s the scoop on some of the most popular animals in Uruguay.

They celebrate many holidays in Uruguay. The holiday I think you're going to enjoy most, Matt and Anna, is Christmas. Did you know that Uruguay has a holiday dedicated to children? It's called Children's Day and it takes place in January 6. They also celebrate Easter and New Year's. So Matt and Anna what do you think of the holidays, cool right!

Mom and Dad that’s my review on Uruguay, I know you're going to like it a lot and won't want to leave. Bye!

Love,
Michael
