Dear Mom and Dad,
In
Paraguay it is very warm and rainy. Bring
your raincoats and short sleeve shirts and shorts. The winter is hot here,
usually around 80 degrees.
I have been speaking Spanish here. There are two official languages. Some people speak Guarani, although most speak Spanish too. Portuguese is spoken along the Brazilian border. Many Guarani words are mixed with Spanish. Many words are different than in other Spanish-speaking counties.
When you come here you will have to learn new eating habits. Rural people often eat when they can. They don't usually sit down to a meal.
Paraguay has lots of farms. They have fields of cotton, sugarcane, and corn. I hope you will like it here in South America. There are big beautiful houses here. They have great big cities like Asuncion and Brazilian. These cities have rivers running through them.
Please make sure you bring Kazia and Chelsea. I think they will really like it here.
Love,
Wayne
