The Life of Max, Hickory and Salvasteen
THREE MARGAYS
By Ginna

Margay3.bmp (22662 bytes)There are three adult Margays high up in an old oak tree in the wooded parts of South America. They are in danger of being caught by a mean old poacher, named poacher Paul. He wants to be the most fashionable dressed person in South America. So he decided to kill as many Margay's as he could find.

One morning when Max and Hickory were out hunting for opossum, they heard a very loud noise over head. They looked up and saw a very big flying thing. They were not quite sure what it was, but it was not a bird. They ran back to the tree where they lived to tell the rest of the family about their new discovery. They all agreed to just ignore the sound.

But when Salvasteen and Max were out they heard a loud bang, kind of like the one they heard the other day. They decided to let it go, because none of the others had heard the loud noise. The next day when the whole family was out hunting they could only find a scarce amount of food. They assumed that it had to do with the bang they heard the other day.

When they herd that a hunter named Poacher Paul. They knew that they had to move to safer grounds.

Then Poacher Paul appeared in front of them. So they ran for their lives. Once they ran out the evil poacher Paul they had to start looking for a new tree. So they decided that they would go out and search for a new home, while they still had time.

"This is very difficult looking for a new home said Salvasteen".

Just then a little bird appeared in front of them, and said" please don't eat me I have no where to go".

"Yummy you do look really good, but I know you are in need of help so I'll try to keep from drooling. "What is your name anyway?"

"My name is Lupine and I am looking for a place to stay. Can you help me?"

No but would you like to look with us". "We just happen to be looking for a new home too. That evil poacher Paul is out for us, but because he is so chubby and slow we can outrun him easily." From that day on Max, Hickory, Salvasteen and Lupine were the best of friends.

"Yes that would be nice, it is lonely out looking by my self. Poacher Paul killed the rest of my family."

"I am very sorry," said Hickory.

"That's OK," said Lupine

"Now lets get looking," said Max.

Caw Caw, went a huge bird as it flew down. "Are you looking for a new place too," said the huge bird.

"Why yes we are," said Max.

"Well there is a tree just ahead."

"Thank you," said Hickory.

"Glad to help," and it flew away.

When they came to the great tree they were proud to call it home.
