New York Rangers

Greg Moore, who was brought up on January 7, was just reassigned to Hartford. Glen Sather has announced that Greg Moore has been sent down again to Hartford. Greg Moore who in Hartford has a good 17 goals and 17 assists which equals 34 points which is pretty good for a youngster who is in Hartford. If you were watching the Ranger games you would have noticed that Brendan Shanahan, number 14, has been out so I guess that they brought up Greg Moore to replace Shanahan, the right winger. Moore is also a right winger so I guess he took Shanahan's spot for a little while.

As you know January 24 was Brian Leetch Night. As I stood there watching the ceremony I was thrilled when I saw all the old timers come back to the Garden, for example, Messier who was the last one to get his jersey raised to the rafters and Mike Richter who was the All-Time Rangers goalie. The reason why he had to stop playing is because he got hit in head with the puck to much. Did you know Brian Leetch played 17 years with the Rangers and when Messier left the Rangers Brian Leetch got to wear the C on his jersey but when Messier eventually came back he gave the C back to Messier? Did you know Leetch had an 80 mph fastball in high school. As Sam Rosen says, "This one will last a lifetime."

Brian Leetch announced January 24 that Adam Graves will be the next Ranger to get his jersey raised to the rafters. Graves played 17 seasons with the Rangers and now is going to get his jersey raised in the Garden. They said that when Leetch said that Adam Graves was going to be the next Ranger jersey raised to the rafters Adam Graves was shocked and amazed and the Rangers won the game in a shoot-out that night vs. Atlanta but Lundqvist was a stone wall even though he let in 1 goal but he came through in the shoot-out and as they say HEN-RIK.

As you know, last week, Stephen Valiquette shut-out the Flyers 4-0 with his first career shut-out and the week after that game they put Valiquette in goal vs. the Flyers again and he shut them out again 2-0 and got the Rangers 4 good points to boost the Rangers to 8th place, that will get them in the playoffs. Saturday they put Valiquette in again vs. the Washington Capitals. He played a good game and got the game to go into overtime 2-2. The Capitals scored in overtime but the Rangers still picked up a point to put them in 7th place. Sean Avery got the first goal and Chris Drury got the second goal and Alexander Ovechkin scored the first goal for the Capitals and Boyd Gordon scored the second goal and Mike Green scored the overtime power play goal to win the game.
