The Tiger Shark

The appearance of a Tiger Shark is a lot like a tiger. This is because of its back covering stripes on the young Tiger Shark’s back. However it loses these stripes as it gets older. The Tiger Shark can grow to be up to 18 feet long and weigh up to 2,000 pounds. This shark also has a snout that is squared of in the front whereas most sharks have a snout that is pointed.

The Shark lives where it is warm, so it mostly lives in tropical waters like the Gulf of Mexico. This shark migrates from the Atlantic Ocean to tropical waters when it gets too cold in the Atlantic. It also lives closer to the equator when it is too cold.

Tiger Sharks also have interesting behaviors. They have little fear except around men or bigger sharks. The shark’s skin gives off an electric field that helps it find hidden prey. Their teeth have serrated edges that let the shark rip its prey. Its hunting sense will warn the shark of any danger.

The Tiger Shark’s diet will usually consist of: other sharks, squids, sea turtles, and other animals. The Tiger Shark will even eat waste in the ocean.
