Julie Kent

Julie Kent was born on July 11, 1969. She is an amazing ballet dancer and a Principal with American Ballet Theatre. She began her training at the Academy of the Maryland Youth Ballet. Julie would go to New York for summer sessions at American Ballet Theatre. She joined ABT as an apprentice in 1985. She became a soloist with ABT in 1990 and a Principal Dancer in 1993. She has won many medals for dancing. She is married to Victor Barbee, Principal Dancer and Ballet Master at American Ballet Theatre. We saw the ballet Le Corsaire and we really enjoyed it. Julie played the part of the slave Medora. The costumes she wore were beautiful and unique. Her dancing was great! Being a ballet dancer is very hard work but fun. We're glad we had a chance to learn about Julie Kent.
