Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel was a famous French fashion designer. Women today still wear her designs. She was born in August 19, 1883 at Saumur, France. She began her career as a designer by designing hats. Her first shop opened in 1914. Her famous salon on rue Camdon in Paris opened in 1920. She made pants for women popular. She also has a famous perfume that you can still buy today called Chanel No. 5. She died on January 10, 1971 in Paris.
