Principal's Message

Dr. George Cancro, Principal

horizontal rule

February 4, 2008

Dear Parents,

The first half of the year has gone by quickly.  During the 1st semester, we have been able to celebrate the many academic, artistic, musical and athletic successes and, as the year progresses, we are looking forward to celebrating the continuing achievements of our students.

As we enter our 2nd semester I need to stress the importance of your children maintaining focus and the need for them to continue to perform in the classroom.  Success in school is simple – young adults need the support and guidance at home to maintain or change the patterns that help a student to be successful.  Every student has the ability to make a difference in their behavior patterns if there is positive parental support, parent involvement in his/her life, and a culture at home that values and supports learning. This is not an every now and then parental action but an involvement that is constant and consistent.

Raising adolescents is not easy but with perseverance, you, as a parent, can make a difference.  Even though your child is in high school it is never too late to be involved in your child’s school career.  Research shows that parental involvement in a child’s education is critical in setting standards for them to develop the skills and desire to be successful in school.  When  your child is successful in school, many opportunities will be available to them after high school.

Remember - We are always ready to assist you and your child.  Please do not hesitate to contact us.  Together we can make a difference.

Sincerely,

George P. Cancro
