ALL SUBJECTS

Classroom Expectations

Students are expected to have with them all necessary materials, including a loose-leaf notebook, pen and pencil, textbook, and homework. Students are expected to turn in homework on time and to participate in classroom discussions and activities. They are to act appropriately, obeying all school rules.

Extra Help

Students are encouraged to seek extra help from their teachers.  Activity periods are scheduled three times a week. This time is set aside for extra help in all academic subjects.

Grading Policy and Procedures

Tests, quizzes, projects, homework, class work and group cooperation are all considered as part of a student's grade.

Homework

Home preparation is a natural extension of class work and is assigned as needed. Students are expected to complete assignments promptly and carefully and to plan for long-term assignments, such as book reports.

Testing Policy

We believe that a test grade should be reflective of each student's ability and achievement. In order to maintain the quality of the testing time, we have developed the following:

  1. The testing period must be a time of quiet contemplation.
  2. A testing atmosphere requires:
    1. Listening and following teacher directive.
    2. Silence.
    3. Attentiveness to one's own work.
    4. Remaining in seats.
    5. Consideration for others.

To ensure this atmosphere, we have put the following into place:

1.      If the student communicates at all during a test, he/she will lose 10 points.

  1. If the same student communicates a second time during the same test, an additional 10 points will be deducted.
  2. If the student communicates a third time, his/her paper will be removed and he/she will be given an F. The student will then be sent to the principal.

It is our hope that this policy will allow each student optimum opportunity to be a successful test taker.
