When a soldier was wounded, Roman Doctors prepared mixtures of herbs and plants to ease the patients’ pain during operations. Doctors tried to keep wounds clean, but many patients died from infections after operations or injuries. Most Roman forts contained a hospital, where injured soldiers could rest and recuperate from injuries and wounds.
