What Should You & Your child be Working on Prior To The Start of Kindergarten?
The ability to recognize their first and last name.
The ability to recite their telephone number and address.
The ability to write and spell their first name.
Knowledge of the letters of the alphabet, and the awareness of some letter sounds.
The ability to recognize and write the numbers 1-10.
The ability to identify most colors and shapes.
Fine motor skills, such as: working with scissors, puzzles, markers, pencils/crayons and glue.
The ability to independently put on outdoor clothing and tie their own shoes.
The ability to appreciate and interact with literature, by reading to your child each day and discussing the story.
The ability to follow multi-step directions.
The ability to adopt healthy hygiene habits into the school environment, such as: flushing the toilet, washing their hands, using a tissue when necessary, covering their mouth when sneezing/coughing.
