The third in our series of NOVEL Workshops, NEXT STEPS, will build upon the information and skills gained from the Thomson-Gale and EBSCO presentations and bring them to the next level, reaching out to teachers, parents and administrators. Mark the date on your calendar -- Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at the School Library System office, 2 Westchester Plaza, Elmsford, New York 10523. The workshop will begin at 9:00 A.M. and end at 3:00 P.M. There will be coffee and registration at 8:30 A.M.
Pam Berger, instructional technologist and library consultant, will work with the participants to develop presentations that can be used to introduce faculty, parents and administrators to the NOVEL databases. Each school library media specialist will leave with a PowerPoint presentation, electronic copies of accompanying handouts and the skills to deliver effective presentations. The goal of the LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) grant that supports these workshops is to increase knowledge and use of the free databases that are provided through the New York State Library.
