The Great New York ReadAloud
On Wednesday, April 9, 2003, libraries across New York State will once again celebrate the Great New York ReadAloud. This is the 14th year that reading events centered on the ReadAloud have been held in academic, public, school and special libraries. The New York Library Association, the New York State Library and other organizations are cooperating to ensure that the 2003 ReadAloud is successful.
All types of libraries in the state sponsor ReadAlouds by inviting local celebrities, teachers, administrators, parents and community leaders to read aloud and then discuss the joy of reading and its value for life-long learning. You are encouraged to plan a ReadAloud around the statewide theme: "Good Books Are Good Friends - Find them @ your library." If you are unable to hold a ReadAloud on April 9th, select another date in either April or May to celebrate reading.
ReadAloud Posters*
The posters for 2003 will be available in three languages: Chinese, English and Spanish. SIRS Publishing, Inc., a Corporate Partner of the Great New York ReadAloud, provides the posters as a public service to the libraries of New York State.
