This workshop is aimed at enabling participants to reinterpret their responsibilities for collection
development. We will re-imagine collection development as a process that creates environments
that reflect the characteristics of the learner, the teaching/learning context of the school, changes
in the expanding knowledge base, and partnerships with the broader learning community.
Participants will be able to:
Jacqueline Mancall, a past president of AASL and a leading library educator, is a professor in Drexel
University's College of Information Science and Technology. Her teaching responsibilities include
collection development, management of information organizations, and the instructional role of the
information specialist. She and her colleague, Sandra Hughes-Hassell, have delivered this workshop
at professional meetings at the local, state and national level.
