Presentation Tips

Ø       In advance of the workshop arrange to have a computer with Microsoft Power Point installed, a projector, a large screen, and Internet access.

Ø       When the participants arrive have the first Power Point slide on the screen with the title of the workshop, your name and title and the date

Ø       Turn on the attendees computers, log them in if necessary, and have the appropriate website with the NOVELNY databases displayed on the computer screen when the participants arrive.

Ø       Always start the workshop on time or within 5 minutes of the starting time.

Ø       When answering a question, first repeat or rephrase the question so everyone can hear it before answering the question. If you don’t know the answer, tell the participant you don’t know but you’ll find out and will get back to them with the answer. You can also ask if any of the other participants know the answer to the question.

Ø       Before the session, introduce yourself and greet each participant as you walk around the room. Ask participants about the grade levels they teach, their job responsibilities and the schools where they work. Gauge the participants’ knowledge of the topics you’ll be covering.
