District Receives Federal Grant

Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-Westchester/Rockland) announced that the Hastings Public School District has received a grant in the amount of $30,000.00 to continue its participation in the “Schools Attuned” program.

"Parents and teachers know that no two children are alike.  All children have different interests and abilities, including their learning styles. One child may need intensive one-on-one interactions while another may make more progress working in a group.  The Hastings School District recognizes these differences and has worked to make sure that their teachers are responsive to the learning styles of all children.  I'm proud to have secured $30,000 for Hastings to continue teacher training to ensure that the individual needs of our children are met," said Congresswoman Lowey.

Developed by Dr. Mel Levine, a neuro-developmental pediatrician, “Schools Attuned” is a continuing professional development program that offers K-12 educators new methods for recognizing, understanding, and managing students with differences in learning, and to help all of the students in their class succeed.
