The Lee F. Jackson Elementary School is designed specifically to meet the needs of early childhood education. This school houses full day kindergarten and first grade programs. It encompasses outstanding programs in a friendly, child-sized facility providing age appropriate experiences designed for grades K and 1.

We believe:

...each child is unique with physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs. We believe that the most effective way to teach young children is to use the child's natural inclination to learn through play. Because we know that children's play is their work, we provide many activities that will allow them to grown socially and academically. A child's social growth is as essential as his academic achievement.

We believe:

...children learn best in a warm, secure environment that provides opportunities for them to:

• Use materials that allow them to have a variety of concrete "hands-on" learning experiences.
• Develop ideas through open-ended questions, problem solving and discussions.
• Work with other children and with adults. This interaction promotes cooperation, self-responsiblity and respect for self and others.

We believe:

...children come to us at many different levels of development. We offer a program which allows for these differences and nurtures individual growth.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Lee F. Jackson School is to provide appropriate environments and experiences which meet the needs of young children and which will allow each child to build a strong foundation of academic and social skills necessary for success in a multicultural society.
