Description (week of April 29, 2002)
The Sport of Life and Death: The Mesoamerican Ballgame - This is a uniquely designed site detailing the first organized game in the history of sports. It is a companion site to a museum exhibition next scheduled to appear at the Newark, NJ museum, Oct-Dec, 2002.

Classroom Integration

  • Use these creative ways section to integrate this website into your art program.

  • Students can Watch a Ballgame, Explore the Ballgame and compare and contrast it to sports games of today.

  • Students research the history of sports and create a presentation of the origin of our modern day sports.

  • Continue with in-depth research on the early Mesoamerican cultures.
