Enjoy your summer ! Please remember to bring your rental instrument back to the music store, or send in the check to continue renting for next year. Instruments will not be picked up by the stores. This has created confusion and some instruments have been lost or unaccounted for. Please return your instrument to the store yourself. 5th graders who may consider purchasing an instrument should ask me for my best-selling “How To Buy A Violin” letter. It is loaded with lots of advice about this complex task. Please do not purchase instruments online or in retail stores. I have seen some questionable instruments for sale. I will be happy to help you personally with this task. If students purchase instruments that I have not approved, I will not be able to help you sell them in the future, should you want to. I also cannot guarantee that I will be able to tune every instrument for use in school. Many instruments sold in discount stores and online are not tunable. Finally, if an instrument is not returnable, I do not recommend buying it.
School concert information is always available on my web page in the school’s website. Please consult my page when questions arise.
Your children have worked hard to become strong musicians. I am very proud of their progress. As always, thank you for your support of our school music program, and for enriching your child’s education with music.
Purchasing an instrument 5th grade parents: Please remember to ask for my help when you feel it is time to purchase an instrument and stop renting. At the very least, read the "How To Buy A Violin" letter at the link below, before putting down money on an instrument. I have seen some untunable instruments for sale in local stores and online. Please do not attempt to purchase an instrument without help. If your child brings me an instrument that I cannot tune, you will not be able to use it in class!
