Special? Yes!

In some ways you are like everyone else. You have friends and family, enjoy music and sports, and want your feelings to be considered.

But you also have your own unique style and talents, interests and pastimes, goals and dreams.

You are the only you there will ever be!

Here are some tips on how to enjoy your relationship with family and friends, while having fun being you.

 Feelings

If someone says something to hurt your feelings, you can do a few things.

You can just keep it to yourself, which doesn’t solve anything.

You can wait for her to apologize, which isn’t a good idea either. You can go and talk to her and tell her how they made you feel. This sometimes resolves the problem without hurt feelings.

When someone makes you feel terrific, you should say something nice back or say “Thank-you!”

 Boosters & Killers

A “booster ” is a statement that makes you feel good when someone says it to you. A “killer” is one that hurts.

Directions: Pass your cursor over each statement to discover which are boosters and which are killers!!!

“When my friend lent me her social studies textbook so that I could do my homework during study hall, I returned it to her after school. This proves that I am a person that people can trust with their belongings.”

Remember to use boosters, not killers, when you're speaking with other people.

 Friends

A friend is responsible by saying something that he is going to do and then following through on his word.

A friend is reliable and always keeps their promise.

A person proves he is a friend by caring about you, always trying to understand you and helping you with your problems.

A friend trusts me and lets me trust him.

 Personal Qualities

There are certain qualities or behaviors that make people want to be your friends. Others traits are so unpleasant that they make people want to keep their distance. To gain lots of friends, you will want to have many of the likeable personal qualities.

Directions: Pass your cursor over each pair of characteristics and you'll learn which people look for in their friends.

Which of these qualities do you have? And which are you going to work to not develop?

You can always speak to parents, teachers or counselors about your feelings.
