Impressionism is a style of painting in which scenes or objects are produced by small strokes of unmixed primary colors of paint (red, yellow & blue) to create the effect of reflected light. Impressionistic painting developed at the end of the nineteenth century in France.

The eighth graders in Mrs. Iris Schechter's class have painted impressionistic landscapes in the style of such artists as  Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Édouard Manet and Edgar Degas.
