We each have our friends, our wonders and our dreams.
Several students share theirs here in poetry and art.

Dream
By Gabbie Lazzari, 7

In a world of great fear,
Year after year many
Will plead for a life here
After a dreamed of world
Is there such a thing?
I wonder,
Can this day get much worse?
Throughout the universe,
Including me,
There are many that dream
With a smile I turn ‘cause
I have learned my dreams
Are true ‘cause
I’m already living them.

Friends
By Genevieve Tyler, 7

A life without friends
is like a half eaten pie,
A book without words,
No stars in the sky.
Just one special person
that comes into your life,
Will make you the
luckiest person alive.
Like a compass when you
are lost in the dark,
Someone to talk to,
Who has a kind heart.
A true example of love,
You’ll find in a friend,
So hold onto that love,
And love back till the end.

Opening A Book
By Lisa Farkas, 6

To open a book is to open a mind.
To open a story, to go behind
The life of others, the conflicts they have.
You take the present, put it into the past.
Read a book but don’t
Make it your last.

All different words, all different days,
All different stories, the pictures are gray.
It could be about an airplane flying over a utopia.
Don’t judge a book by its cover, it can be fun.

You can go on an adventure
Through the jungle, through the woods.
Or it takes place at home
Which lots of stories should.
Doesn’t matter the genre,
If you like it that is great.
But if you do not like it,
Then get another that’s top rate.

I read some books with chapters,
I read some without.
Some may have pictures.
When you read a book,
Don’t you want to
Scream and shout?

Don’t you just love to open a book?

The Wonder of Space
By Daniel Sorine, 6

Where are we?
Is there more to us?
What’s out there?
These questions are probably asked by most of you reading this.
If something is out there will we find it soon.
Are we in someone’s finger nail?
The answer to all these questions
wilt have to wait as we keep advancing in technology.

Friends Will Last Forever
by Lisa Farkas, 6

“Friends will last forever,”
that’s what my friend told me.
Friends will last a lifetime,
just like you and me!

Friends will laugh together
Cry together, and more

You will always be
the friend
That I will adore

All friends share secrets
True friends don’t tell lies

Friends eat dinner together
Stuff like pizza pies
Many friends go on outings,
Some friends stay at home.

All I know for sure is
No friend is on their own.

Some friends you meet at camp,
Some friends at school,

You can rely on your friends
Best Friends RULE!!!!!!!!!!

Everyday of My Life
By Gabrielle Cristofaro, 6

Why is it that everyday of my life,
I always think of you.
Is it because of all the pleasant things
That you do.
Maybe it’s your smile
Or that special wink in your eye.
Or maybe it is just me thinking
Of you almost all of the time.

The Sun
By Meghan Ryan, 6

The water frozen
Over was
Glistening
Beautiful as can
Be
The white, clear
as Ice
Beautiful as can
Be
The sun heated
Over
Bright as can
Be
Yellow, bright,
Hot
Beautiful as can
Be.

The Mr. Potato Head characters in the title were created by seventh grader Nick Gizzo.

These poems first appeared in the Fall 2002 issue of EMS Voice, the school newsletter written under the guidance of advisors Ms. Hill and Ms. Virtuoso. The pictures were created using the Paint Shop Pro software in the Computer Technology classes of Mr. Donahue.
