An interactive whiteboard is a computer-controlled whiteboard with a touch-sensitive screen. The interactive whiteboard allows a teacher to project their computer screen on the board through the use of a projector. It is connected to the computer so that it becomes touch-sensitive; any commands or mouse clicks can be performed by simply touching the board. This allows the teacher to present while still interacting directly with the students. Any computer application can be used on an interactive whiteboard, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Inspiration and the Internet. Teachers have the ability to write or draw electronically on the board using touch sensitive pens while using an application or visiting a web site. Anything that is written or drawn can be erased, saved onto the computer or printed. Click on the links below to access some useful resources on interactive whiteboards. |
