Character Education is an ongoing process at AH. We are continuting our theme of Kindness Follows Caring this year and our bulletin boards in the front hallway can attest to the fact that our children are doing an excellent job in submitting kindness "books." After the students tell Mrs. Cherry about the good deed they have done and write it down, they then receive a kindness coin. These coveted coins are motivating to students because 10 coins allows them to partake in a pizza party with the principal.

Another exciting piece of the Character Education program is the following..... The character education committee has buddied up younger and older grades together so that each class has a buddy class with which they will do various activities throughout the year. Last year was the first year of the buddy classes and the students loved it! Buddies might do such projects as cooking together for holidays, a Presidents' celebration in conjunction with Presidents' week and art projects. You will undoubtedly hear about these activities in the Hutch Happenings.

And more......

This year we are continuing our program of "Town Meetings" at Anne Hutchinson. A program that is designed to promote communication and the democratic process, town meetings will deal with issues such as "Doing our Best", "Anti-Bullying" and "Respect". Mrs. Levine, our school counselor, will be facilitating this program along with the cooperation of Mrs. Napolitano, our Drama Teacher and our 5th grade Drama students. These students have volunteered to act out skits at the "Town Meetings" and then the staff will process the meaning of these skits with the children.
