Our School

Eastchester Middle School is committed to providing a rigorous academic program in a safe, supportive, and understanding learning community. The Eastchester Middle School uses grade level teams and provides a supportive environment to meet the needs of students in grades 6 through 8. In addition to a rigorous academic curriculum, students participate in character education courses and programs throughout their middle school years.

Home-School Partnership

Eastchester Middle School welcomes its community’s efforts to work together in the effort to provide a well-rounded and participatory educational experience for our students. The EMS PTA holds monthly meetings and is integral to many school programs. The Compact Team, which is made up of parents, teachers, and administrators, addresses building-level issues on an ongoing basis.

Cultural Arts and Field Trips

The classroom curriculum in each grade level is enhanced and enriched through special assemblies and field trips. Sixth grade students visit the Liberty Science Center and Medieval Times. Seventh graders participate in an overnight trip to Boston, Massachusetts. The eighth grade will once again travel to Washington, D.C. for three days in the spring. In addition, various groups attend performances at Lincoln Center and on Broadway.

Extra and Co-Curricular Activities

Students at Eastchester Middle School are involved in an expansive array of activities beyond the classroom. Students have the opportunity to explore and pursue interests through our many clubs and activities such as: Anime Club, Art Club, A/V Club, Chess Club, Computer Club, History Club, International Club, Jazz Band, Jazz Co., Math Club, Players Club, Poetry Club, Speech & Debate Club, S.A.D.D., Student Leadership Club, Boston Club, Washington Club, and the Yearbook. Interested students may participate in the Student Council or on the EMS Voice, our student newspaper. All students are given the opportunity to participate in our athletic intramural programs. Student-athletes in 7th and 8th grade may seek to participate in our modified interscholastic athletic program.
