Community Involvement

The Eastchester Union Free School District is fortunate to have a strong relationship with parents, local organizations and businesses, town government and community leaders.

Community members are kept apprised of school activities through the district's newsletter, School Talk, containing news from the School Community Council, as well as our Educational Access Channel on cable channel 19. Parents are kept informed through weekly newsletters at the elementary schools and periodic newsletters from the secondary schools.

Shared Facilities

The school district works with the community by making its facilities available to the town and local organizations. The district's auditoriums, fields, and gymnasiums are used for non-student drama productions and concerts, sports organizations, and activities offered by the Town of Eastchester's Department of Parks and Recreation, such as its sports camp and arts and crafts programs.

The E.A.S.Y. program (Eastchester After School Youth) uses the Waverly School to provide an after school program for young children with working parents. The elementary PTA's often use their respective facilities for after school programs.

Joint Programs

The district enjoys a wonderful relationship with the Eastchester Police Department. A very special team of officers works with our elementary students in the DARE Program (Drug Awareness Resistance Education) as well as with the secondary students, who serve as role models for the younger children.

Read In

Community leaders participate in the "Read Aloud" programs by spending time in an elementary classroom reading to children and answering their questions.
