Artists in Display

EHS art students displayed pieces of art at the High School Invitational: Small Works and Exhibition 2008, held at Pace Univeristy in February. Students displaying artwork were: Michael Aiello, 9th grade (Studio Art); Victoria DeBenedictus, 9th grade(Studio Art); Kathryn Schaefer, 10th grade; Zoe Kheyman, 11th grade.

Artists

HS juniors Gabrielle Tuite and Rebecca Moloney have been accepted into the New York Summer School of the Arts Visual Arts program. This scholarship-based program is offered to qualified students for an intensive four week session held in Fredonia, NY. It is specifically designed to emphasize art experiences that cannot normally be undertaken during a regular classroom setting. Students will work in the studio with drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media, figure and interdisciplinary arts under the direction of noted exhibiting artists/educators.

Film Festival

EHS film students Alex Watson-Eng, Greg Rocco and Patrick McDevitt had their short films shown at the Westchester International Film Festival in March. Patrick's film, Corrupted, won 2nd place out of the 21 films entered by high school students. He won $500 and the school’s film program was granted $500.An article in the March 2 Arts and Entertainment section of the New York Times highlighted the High School’s film and video program.

Art Show

EHS seniors in the Portfolio Prep/AP Art class participated in a recent High School Women's Art Show at the College of New Rochelle. Displaying work were: Lauren Benson, an Award Recipient, shown above with Dr. Richard Thompson, Dean of CNR’s School of Arts and Sciences; Meredith Ribeiro, Selina Ruzi, and Callan Rodgers-Grazado.
