Curriculum Objectives of Workshop:
....participants will recognize the NYS Standards for ELA Commencement level and relate these Standards to their classroom experiences.
...participants will identify the different tasks of the Regents Exam and apply the Standards to them.
...participants will practice taking Task 1 -listening and will begin to create a parallel task.
Technology Objectives of Workshop:
...participants will learn the fundamentals of the Netscape browser, how to do simple searches, hyperlink and bookmark sites
...participants will increase their knowledge of Windows 95 and Word processing

Introduction - Review of Participants Curriculum and Technology Level

Standards and the Test (PPT Presentation)

• What are the 4 Standards
• What is this test composed of?
• What is the Assessment used?

Activity One: Standards in My Classroom (Hand out- small groups)

• What am I doing in my class already that meets the Standards?

Break - 15 Minutes

Activity Two: Dissecting Task 1 - Listening

• Complete the Task
• Discuss the thinking, procedural and content skills needed to meet the standard of this task

Activity Three: Creating Your Own Task 1

• Use the template created in Word - on disk
• Go to the ELA web site to get resources for your task

Work Session: Participants will split into 2 rooms and work on task

Assessment: Task Review

• Review tasks created
• Review Testing Accommodations and Graduation Requirements
