"What do we live for but to make life more
pleasant for others?"
Chinese Proverb
The above Chinese proverb captures the philosophy of our school.
Cecil H. Parker Elementary School is dedicated to the belief that
school must be a pleasant place for all. This includes parents,
children, faculty and the broader community that we serve.
Parents are assured of courteous and efficient assistance whenever
they visit our school. A pleasant and eager office staff takes pride
in its ability to service parent needs. This approach adds to positive,
and pleasant, communication between the home and school.
Children are also assured every day that they will receive love,
care, and respect from the school faculty. We display a keen interest
in the academic and social growth of our children. Teachers and
staff give willingly of their time and talent to make Parker a pleasant
place for children. One evidence of this is that pupil attendance
is at an all-time high, and far exceeds the state standard for pupil
attendance.
Faculty and staff feel that their efforts on behalf of children
are appreciated and valued. This is accomplished through open communication
and ongoing support from the school administration. The result is
a more pleasant and stimulating work environment for all.
The broader community also enjoys a sense of pleasant cooperation
with our school. In an ongoing effort to extend its relationship
with the community, school officials have visited local churches,
tenant associations, and civic groups. The school continues to be
available to spread its message of care to all community members.
A number of programs exist to encourage children's academic and
social growth. These include a literacy block averaging two hours
daily; A and B honor roll; mentoring program with community leaders;
student newspaper; school yearbook; a varied music program featuring
school band, orchestra, and choir; peer mediation; after-school
tutoring and recreation programs; summer camp, a career education
program, "Wee
Deliver" and Parker Bank.
Come and visit Parker School, a pleasant place for all!
