But What About the Other Drive Letters?

The system has been configured so that the default directory is the user’s home directory. However, you will see from the list that there are other drive locations: D (CD drive); C (the computer’s hard drive); Desktop (a special folder on the computer’s hard drive.)

Saving to either the home or shared network drives is the best way to manage files since files saved to a hard drive live on that particular machine. To access a file stored locally, you will need to work from that machine only. Saving files to the network assures immediate access to your work from any computer in the building.

USB: Teachers will have access to the USB port for Flash Drives.

CD drive: Copy, create and format CDs using this drive. CD Creator is a utility to use for this function.
