Electronic Learning
The
Waterford Early Reading Program was developed by the nonprofit Waterford
Institute, whose mission is to provide every child with the finest
education possible through the effective use of technology.
Based on eight years of research into how children acquire literacy
skills, the developers of the Waterford Early Reading Program concluded
that the key to ensuring reading success is early intervention,
in kindergarten or even pre-school.
By overcoming the obstacles to literacy development early, the Waterford
Early Reading Program works for all students, regardless of primary
language or beginning level of literacy.
The Waterford Early Reading Program teaches those skills identified
in research as essential to learning to read. It aligns the following
key components into a balanced, comprehensive curriculum: Instruction,
Assessment, Classroom Management, Professional Development, Parental
Involvement and Technology.
