Text Box: Dear Families,
March is certainly set to be a month full of activity for students, teachers and parents! One glance at the “Important Dates” says it all…
March has also become Kindergarten Registration Month. This change in timing will enable us to have potential grade level numbers a bit earlier than in years past. If you know someone new to Ardsley, please ask them to call Concord Road (ex.2303) Text Box: for a registration packet and an appointment.
NYS Math testing for grades 3 and 4 will occur March 5 through March 9. We know our students are ready for this next challenge.
Placement letters and forms will be sent home at the end of the month. Our Parent Coffee on Friday, March 2nd will speak generally to the process of creating heterogeneous classrooms and the role of parent input via your forms.
Text Box: We are very pleased to welcome our HS foreign language staff who will share a few fun foreign language experiences with our fourth graders during the week of March 12. This is a first for this collaboration and we look forward to continued opportunities.
Parent Conference dates are on Wednesday, March 21 and March 28...these are 1/2 day dismissals for our students…11:30 is dismissal time for those days.
   See you at school,
         Margaret and Layne
Text Box: The elementary school years provide the best opportunity to teach our children that they can take care of others and their community. By setting an example and explaining our actions, we can all teach our young leaders to be responsible citizens. Below are a few ideas that can provide a foundation for discussion and action to be responsible community leaders.
    * Care for the environment: Point out public trash cans and explain why it is important to throw litter away to keep the community and environment clean. Let your youngsters help you sort plastic and newspapers for recycling.
Text Box: * Respect Property: Explain that we are kind to things as well as people. For example, encourage your child/children to keep library books clean, keep them in a safe place and return the book on time so that others can read them, too.
    * Obey rules: Children can follow simple laws/rules such as using a crosswalk and wearing a bike helmet. If you own a dog, walk it with your child and explain that the law states that the dog needs to be on a leash and needs to wear tags that prove it has been vaccinated. Discuss that the laws/rules keep everyone safe and healthy.
    * Stay informed: Let your Text Box: child observe you reading the newspaper. Discuss current events that she/he can understand. When you vote, take your child(ren) along and explain the process and what you are doing in the voting booth.
These small steps will help our young learners understand that they can make a difference in the lives of others and in their community.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before
starting to improve the world. Anne Frank
