Françoise Gilot
Françoise Gilot is a great artist. She was born on November 26, 1921 in Paris, France. Her father was a businessman. Her mother painted watercolors. At only the age of five, Françoise decided that she wanted to be an artist when she was older. She studied to be a lawyer at college because her father wanted her to, but really only wanted to study her true passion: art.
At the age of 21, Françoise met Pablo Picasso, who was 61 at the time. Picasso was the artist who "broke all the rules" according to other people. People thought his art was too abstract. Only some people appreciated his art. He and Françoise started raising their two children together. Their childrens’ names were Claude and Paloma. Paloma grew up to make jewelry. Claude currently lives in Paris. Pablo and Françoise became partners in art from 1944 to 1953. They usually painted pictures of Claude and Paloma. Their friends included poets, philosophers, writers and other famous artists. Soon after that, Françoise wrote her book, Life with Picasso. It became a best seller. It was about - you guessed it - her life with Picasso. Also in the 1950’s, Françoise met Luc Simon. Soon after that, they got married.
In 1962 Françoise and Luc were divorced. Not long after that, around 1970 Françoise married another man. In the 1970’s, Françoise married Dr. Jonas Stalk. They loved each other very much.
In 1996, the movie Surviving Picasso came out. It was through the eyes of Picasso, though it was also about Françoise. She also continued to paint.
In conclusion, Françoise Gilot was an amazing artist who was very fascinated in art and painting. In my opinion, she painted some beautiful works of art. She is still alive to share her wonders with the world. Here are some websites that helped me find information:
